There’s so much to give

In the past couple of weeks, I have been reminded of the goodness of humanity. Of the amazing bond that we can form when we join together for a good cause. It’s so much more uplifting to look past all the bad things happening everywhere we turn and be grateful that we still know how to care when caring is what’s needed. And for right now, in Western, NY and what seems to be spreading across the states little by little, is the outpouring of love and support and prayers for a little four year old boy, who is waiting on a miracle. We were made to care. We were made to give. And when people give and give and give, hearts are touched and lives are changed.

Mindy allowed me the honor of coming into their home this past weekend to take some casual photos of her and the kids.  Andy joined us for a bit at the end. There were no expectations. Just to capture life, as it is in this moment. Mindy thanked me a hundred times–but what she didn’t know was that I felt like I was receiving a gift as well. To be equipped with such an amazing gift that has been given to me, and then to be able to bless others with it. That’s what it’s all about. And I’m not saying that in the least bit with any kind of prideful spirit. I truly was humbled by it. And I, along with the thousands of people already holding Ben up in their prayers, are crying out to God to heal Ben.

It’s incredible the number of people that Ben’s story has touched in such a short amount of time. Ben was diagnosed with his brain tumor just under a month ago, and already there are nearly 40,000 people following the page on Facebook. The city of Buffalo has joined together and has gone Blue 4 Ben, lighting up the Peace Bride in blue and Niagara Falls in Blue. Blue 4 Ben signs are on hundreds of businesses. The story is all over the news. God knows there are so many people who’s lives would be changed if Ben is healed, because they’ve seen the faith that Mindy has shown. And as Mindy told me on Saturday, “The stage is set”. We are all hoping the same. I have never prayed for something more in my life for this little boy to be healed.

If you aren’t already following Ben’s story, or would like to know the details so that you can keep him in your prayers, here is Mindy’s blog link.  His Facebook page is at Blue4Ben.

And to view a video that I made of some of the images and videos of my time with Ben and his family on Saturday, so that you can see what a precious boy he is, view the video here: Benjamin Sauer: A little boy waiting on a miracle.

Keep praying, World.  Keep praying. And be the good in the world–keep giving to the good causes all around. Of your time. Of your prayers. And of your resources.
