An Hour of Bliss and My BFF

James plays soccer on Thursday nights.  Most of the time, when he’s gone, I hop on the computer and enjoy an hour of pure bliss.  Some quality time alone with Photoshop.  Photoshop and I are becoming fast friends.  It’s a give and take relationship.  I give it raw images straight from my camera, and it gives me back magic.
It’s taking me some time to get to know Photoshop personally but I’m learning how to play nice with it, so it returns pieces of art that make me come back time and time again.  Photoshop has me wrapped around it’s finger.  It’s reeled me in and there’s no turning back.  I hope we are best friends forever.
Today I had one of those ho-hum days.  By the time James came home. . . an hour later than usual, I was about ready to lose my mind.  I didn’t really want to entertain all day.  Poor Brayden–his mommy had lazy mommy syndrome.  He asked me many times if I would go outside and play football with him. I finally gave in, went along with the game and put on the football helmet.  Before he even threw the ball to me he ran over and picked up his baseball bat declaring that we should play baseball instead.  This was okay by me, I didn’t really want to play football anyways.  So I picked up our bucket of balls and said cheerfully, “I’ll pitch to you!” With a wave of dismissal, he told me that I could just play baseball by myself.  I’m gonna “cut”, he said, as he picked up his toy chainsaw.
I gave up.  So I sat in a lawn chair and ate a popsicle.  I could see we weren’t getting anywhere.  The laziness returned.

James says we’d be much better off with only a few options for him to do at one time, instead of a hundred things laying around the garage to play with.  I’m beginning to think he’s right.
To make the day harder, Carter decided that sleeping wasn’t a priority.  He took only a few naps here and there.  He is the happiest baby on the block though, so having him awake really isn’t that big of a deal.  But a girl really likes a break every now and then.
James always comes home and saves the day.  He usually knows I need a little bit of a break, so he distracts Brayden . . . who for some reason, always seems to play better independently when daddy is around.  James weeded some of our jungle, and Brayden played with the hose.

As luck would have it, Carter slept for an hour and a half as soon as daddy got home.  Seriously, why don’t things go my way when I’m by myself?  James just brings the magic home with him.
It’s not hard to see why.
I hope lazy mommy doesn’t wake up tomorrow morning.  I’m not a big fan of her.  I think everyone likes fun mommy a lot better.
