The Amazing, Ever Fascinating Twenty-Five Cent Wooden Ball

Most of you know that I am a garage sale junkie.  For serious.  I am hard core.  I rock at finding bargains.  I don’t normally say that I am good at too many things. . . but finding deals is one of my favorite and best pastimes.
I like to buy cheap toys.  So when I ran into this interesting looking toy for only a quarter, I didn’t think twice about buying it.  And am I glad that I did.  For some reason, Brayden has found it one of the most fascinating things ever.
It apparently reminds him of a bowling ball.  And boy is Brayden ever intrigued with the sport of bowling.  He always has been.  I can totally see why he thinks it’s a bowling ball.  The thing weighs like six pounds.  It’s just like the candlepin bowling balls we used when we visited James’ family in New England.  So he takes this ball and bowls it all over this side of the earth.  The little blue piece on top has divots in it. . . so that’s where Brayden tries to hold it like a bowling ball.  I don’t even mind that there are probably five hundred dents in our family room’s subfloor from the last two days–at least he’s using his imagination.
Not only is it a ridiculously-heavy-and-could-probably-give-somebody-a-concussion perfect bowling ball, but it also comes apart and fits together like a puzzle.  Imagine that.  Two toys for twenty-five cents.
I have also found that Carter is enraptured with the thing.  He stares at those pieces like he’s just received his vision for the first time.  They have different textures too, and although you can’t see it from any of the pictures, each of the pieces has designs on their inner rings.  Bonus for him.  More things to stare at.
I’d say that this was a well spent quarter, eh?
