Soak up the Sun

We are sun lovers.  Days are always merrier when the sun comes to visit.  Here in our part of the world, we  only see it a measly percentage of the year, so we adore any of the days we get it.
But, I would like to add a disclaimer.  Truthfully, I love the sun up until the temperature reaches eighty.  I’m a seventies girl, and I think I always will be.  Warm enough to let the breeze come through the windows, but not so hot that nursing a little wee one makes both of you sticky and miserable.
On Saturday morning, I was reminded of how close I am to such wonderful hidden places.  In a short ten minute drive from my house, I arrived at the beach a little early for a photo shoot.  I was able to take a walk along the beach while scoping out a few places that I wanted for our shoot.  It was gorgeous and  serene.  Not many people are at the beach at nine in the morning.
I walked along the pier a bit. And I remembered that I am a Child of God, created in the same beauty as everything that was around me.  Truly, in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter if I still have fifteen pounds to lose from my pregnancy . . . or if sometimes I feel like I’m not doing the best I can.  Or if my house is messy and my laundry has piled up.
What matters is that I realize that I am a treasure to the One who created me.
Sitting in the quiet with a beautiful scene before me, helps me to remember to slow down a bit.
Oh lazy days of summer, we cannot wait for your arrival.  But please, oh please. . . not too many hot days!  Just the warm bask of the mild sun . . . warm enough to swim and dance around in the kiddie pool.  Sidewalk chalk on the pavement.  And tricycles pedaling in squiggly giggly lines down the driveway.

My boys are getting ready to party like rockstars.  They are ready for daddy to be home . . . together as a family.  Four pieces of the best kind of love around.

And here are the pictures from the photo shoot on the beach today.  Constructive criticism is always welcome. . . I’m always looking for ways that I can improve.  Don’t be shy.
