William [Rochester, NY Newborn Photographer]

It’s no secret if you keep up with my blog or photography page–I love shooting newborns, and I’ve been working so hard the past few months to gain both more skill and knowledge about what works and what doesn’t at my newborn sessions. I want to become more effective as a photographer–more efficient, for everyone’s sake. For the parents, as they are exhausted and don’t want to have to sit through a long session, for the baby so that they can resume normal (clothed) life!, and for myself- so that I’m not physically drained for the rest of the day because the session was long and difficult. Sure, there will always be babies that just don’t want to sleep–but if I can learn the best ways possible to get a baby to sleep and keep them asleep as best as I can, then everyone is happier in the long run.

Something went right with little Will as far as that went. He slept nearly the entire time I photographed him, and it was a dream. It actually makes me laugh, because two years ago I photographed his big brother’s newborn session, and it was quite the opposite! John wouldn’t sleep! His parents admitted though, that baby number two seems a lot more chill than baby number one.  So maybe that had something to do with the whole thing. Whatever it was–I definitely enjoyed it.
