Faux Summer!

The weather for today will make us all be able to pretend for one day that we actually live in a warm place. Near eighty degrees. In April!  No way! The same went for yesterday. Truth is though, that we better suck all the juice out of today (and hopefully we did for yesterday too) because tomorrow’s forecast? Back down to 38. And 1-2 inches of snow. And Wednesday, you ask? 37. Again. Today–local pollen alert. Tomorrow. Winter for one last hoorah. I get sick of this place fast!

On Friday, it was over seventy as well, and the first warm day since last year. The boys were running around outside with shorts and no shirts on. They washed the van with sudsy water. Carter asked for a popsicle. And I had the front door open for the first time in about seven months. There’s just something about the hope of sunny days that lightens my step. Puts a little dance in my heart. And makes something deep within me flutter a little bit. We love everything that has to do with summer- mainly a few of the top things- James being off from school, our pool, having friends over for swimming, trampoline jumping and s’mores in the fire pit. We are still a few months away from all of that, but in the next few weeks, I’m definitely looking forward to watching the tress finally bud and blossom, seeing some bright and happy flowers poke out of the ground, and watching the nasty, dirty mound of snow in the middle of our cul-de-sac die a slow, melting death into the pavement. The near eighty temperatures yesterday and today should nearly do the trick, I hope.

So, happy Summer today, to those of you who are Rochester folks. Enjoy it while you can!

Below: Brayden’s teacher organized a Blue4Ben event at their elementary school.  Brayden’s who class wore blue, and the teachers had a dress down day to collect some money for Ben and his family. They also made cards for him, and hopefully will be on their way in the mail soon!
