Dear Sawyer,
Today you are two. You were just born though, so I’m not sure how that happened. Entering this world squealing like a fighting cat and weighing over nine pounds, even at a week before your due date.
You are a little chatterbox. But you speak mostly jibberish, and I can’t translate most of the things you say, though I’ve caught on to a good deal of the chatter. Lots of your word sounds come from the back of your nose instead of your mouth, but we’re working on it. The speech evaluators say they can’t do anything for you yet. And that’s okay—you’re unique, they say. It’s an interesting way to talk, but you’ll catch on.
You’ve started saying some three word phrases—take a bath. Water please, mommy. Thank you, mommy. Blankie, are you? (where are you?). All done please!
It’s endearing 🙂
You make me smile everyday. Just by being you. I love your happiness, your smile, your athleticism, your love of balls. You just love being outside and ask to go out all the time by getting your shoes and going to the door. You love bananas, bagels and cream cheese, scrambled eggs, noodles with sauce, ice cream (and all junk food), marshmallows, pizza, hot dogs, chips, yogurt, waffles and chicken nuggets.
You love friends. You love watching golf. You love shooting hoops and throwing and catching footballs, kicking soccer balls and hitting baseballs. You are a natural athlete and just how Brayden was when he was your age. Balls, balls, balls.
Your favorite TV shows are Daniel Tiger and Yo Gabba Gabba. You loved Elmo for a long while, but not so much anymore. You also had a brief love affair with the Wiggles, but that didn’t last either (thank goodness!).
You have a winning smile and an adorable giggle, and I love snuggling with you, though we don’t do it often because you are too active. You still love your pacifier and your blankie and need both together for your comfort object. We’re in big trouble. Sounds like Carter all over again—we will be sure not to wait until you turn three to take your pacifier away like we did with him.
You go down for naps and for bed like a champ, and without a peep. But you don’t sleep in at all, and your naps aren’t super long. You’re a super light sleeper, unlike your brothers. You took two naps a day until you were about 21 months, but they were only about an hour each.
You’re a big momma’s boy. I think more than either of your brothers were. You love to color (with markers only), you love stickers, you love riding your “bikes” in the house and do it daily—around and around, you love books, you love musical toys, you love to run and dance, you love singing, you adore your brothers, and you love baths. You love to use chalk outside, play with water, pointing out birds and airplanes, swinging, jumping on the trampoline and making messes.
You are the best little guy and we love you so much!
Love, Mommy
