Turkey Feast

I was really grateful that both Brayden and Carter’s schools put a lot of emphasis on Thanksgiving.  They both learned a lot about the history of it (on a much simpler level for Carter, obviously).  Brayden learned a lot of facts. . . Carter learned a few songs.  And they both made and wore little pilgrim outfits in each of their classes.  Carter’s teachers were dressed like pilgrims today.  All of it just made me smile.

Today I went in to photograph the little turkey feast that the first graders had at Brayden’s school.  Each classroom made a special treat to contribute to the feast.  They listened to a speaker.  The Indians gave the Pilgrims a gift of necklaces.  Before they ate, they turned to a neighbor to tell them something they were thankful for.  And then they at their little feast.  It was really cute–so glad I went to see.  And it’s so nice to be a part of the school family, and to have Brayden’s teacher know me by name.  A seemingly small thing, but something which wasn’t the case for last year!  And it made me sad.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
