Thoughts from my weekend workshop.

On Saturday I taught a basic photography workshop for the second year in a row.  I limit the participants to twelve.  It’s amazing to me that in two years, twenty-four ladies have looked up to my photography enough to come listen to me talk and to learn a little bit about their cameras.  I feel so blessed, and yet, it’s sort of like a big fuzzy haze in my brain.  I can’t believe I willingly stood up in front of a group of people (albeit small group) and spoke.  Was I nervous?  Yes.  Did I stumble over my words a few times?  Yes.  But did I arm a handful of people with some good knowledge about some basic photography words and methods for shooting?  I hope so!  Plus, at least once a year, I’m putting to use that nice piece of paper stating that I have my Master’s Degree in Education.  Ha!

As always, there are things to improve on.  Hopefully some good constructive criticism will come from my twelve participants.  I enjoy doing the class for sure–because five years ago, that was me.  Thirsty for any knowledge I could absorb.  And I am so thankful to be able to pass on some of that knowledge, because we all start somewhere, and I sure hope I can help these fantastic newbies start climbing the ladder to where they’d like to go.  So honored to help them along the way!

For those of you who use powerpoint on a regular basis, I’d recommend trying out Prezi instead.  It’s wonderful, and free, and it’s online at prezi.com.  That’s how I chose to present during my class, and it worked out well with not a lot of hiccups.  Plus, it seemed so much easier than trying to relearn powerpoint all over again.

Those that responded from the class showed interest in an intermediate class, a smaller more in depth class, and a photoshop class.  Time to start turning my gears and figuring out what I can come up with!
