Bethany’s Favorite Things: January Edition

I thought I’d give everyone a break from pictures of my kids and feature some of my favorite things in today’s Happy Monday blog post.  So, today, may I present, five of my favorite things!

I am a big fan of musicals.  If I could afford to, I’d go to the theatre for every show that comes to town.  I’d travel to NYC frequently just to go see a bunch of them.  I love them, love them, love them.  Mostly because when I was younger, I really always wanted to be in one.  There’s just something about them that make me so happy.  The problem is, I can’t sing, and I can’t dance.  And I hate being up in front of people.  Three strikes and I’m out.  At least I can still go and watch them.  And Wicked is one of my all time favorite ones.  I love the music especially–makes me want to belt out the lyrics at the top of my lungs.  I’ve seen the show three times, but never when it was on Broadway.

And it’s no surprise then that I love Disney’s newest movie, Frozen.  Seriously, seriously amazing for a cartoon.  I saw it at the theater, twice.  Which is sort of laughable, since I’m a grown woman, and this is a cartoon.  But still, it’s great.  And the music is just fantastic.  And the storyline is great too.  Super bonus A+++ to Disney on this one.  The other day, I daydreamed about the musical Frozen that would be the best! But, I can’t quite imagine how they would figure out all the ice parts.  Not very practical.

We got our Keurig coffee maker just about four years ago from some friends who blessed us with it when Carter was born, telling us that, you are definitely going to need to start drinking coffee now that you have two kids!  Ever since then, I’ve grown a lovely relationship with these Cafe Mochas.  It’s like dessert in a cup.  Only, I can not drink them unless I also have peppermint mocha creamer.  I know, I know. . . I’m weird.  But in all seriousness, I don’t like them plain.

A favorite book of mine is The Giver by Lois Lowry.  It’s actually a juvenile book, but it doesn’t matter to me.  Once, awhile ago, I started a collection of Newbery Medal winning books.  I used to pick them up at garage sales and library book sales.  And like the soulful nerd in me, I actually used to carry around a list of all the ones that I didn’t already have.  In my wallet.  Because I’m that cool.  Now, the collection sits in a box in the crawl space, only because I don’t really need it out, but I have a hard time getting rid of it.  Anyways–one of these Newbery winners was The Giver–it’s great from beginning to end.  Very unique.  Great story line.  Easy read.  And I’m thrilled that the movie is coming out this year!

And finally, my last favorite for January–because I think it would be fun to feature some of my favorite photographers every once and awhile.  Katelyn James is an incredible wedding photographer from Virginia.  She’s so consistent with her images. . . perfectly clean, natural looking and her images are always so beautiful.  I’ve had the privilege of hearing her speak, and her heart is just as amazing as her images.  Looking forward to seeing her again in March at WPPI in Las Vegas.

Hopefully I’ll remember to do this again in February!  Happy Monday everyone!
