The First Freeze

It was below freezing last night.  I forgot that this means that cars actually need to be warmed up in the morning.  So I made a mental note to remember to do that from now on, instead of bringing my kids out to the van in the freezing, while the van is freezing and we sit there for eight minutes waiting for the ice to defrost off the windshield.

We are germy.  Brayden was germy last week, and he gave it to Carter, who is now germy.  I hope the germs stay behind the force field that I am creating for James and I.  Irritable, snotty nosed children cause enough mayhem on their own.  Irritable, snotty nosed parents make it a whole lot worse and twice as miserable.

We’re doing our best to comfort, like good parents.  Pizza and movie night.  Cake with red and green sprinkles.  A perfect glowing fire in the fireplace.  Lots of snuggles and book reading.  And of course,
because they are still cool when you are twenty months old, footy pajamas all day long.

I took Carter in this morning to the doctors to check for an ear infection, which thankfully he didn’t have.  I couldn’t count the number of times on my hands and feet combined he said no to the poor doctor.  She is brand new to the practice–young and enthusiastic.  Even her best efforts to get him to open his mouth
were futile.  We tag teamed and I bribed him with some Spiderman fruit snacks while she jammed a tongue depressor into his mouth to check for blisters in this throat.  Really, it was every mom’s dream of how to spend a morning.

On a positive note, I finally decided it would be a good idea to go for a short jog.  I got all dressed and carried Carter out with me to snuggle him in the jogging stroller.  Oh yeah, that’s right.  The jogging stroller is shoved into that POD we packed up two weeks ago–stored who knows where in warehouse 12 of the PODs center.  Perfect.  Plan B- push the double jogging stroller with only one child in it.  It worked out fine and I jogged for forty eight straight hours and lost twenty five pounds.  It was a miracle.

I just reread this post and realized that it was completely dripping in sarcasm.  Nearly the entire thing.  Yikes.
