That Time of Year Again, It Is.

Star Wars love runs thick through the blood of my boys.  For the third year in a row, our library has hosted a special Star Wars Night.  Check out here and here for the past two years.  Two years ago, it was a well kept secret.  There weren’t too many people present. . . but it seems the word travels fast, and this year, the place was packed.  Like LONG lines to see the characters.  Not so in the past.  But the boys don’t mind.  They like to watch the movie that they have playing on the large screen in the “special movie room”.  They love the free tattoos.  The kids that are also dressed up in costumes (lots of Darth Vader’s this year!).

It’s a great event–though simple (but free!), that they look forward to.  They’ve rotated through characters the past few years, so that’s also been fun–Two years ago, an Ewok was amongst a bunch of storm troopers.  Last year, there were quite a few characters. . . mostly clone troopers, snow troopers and storm troopers.  And this year. . . R2D2 and Chewbacca.  So fun.  Carter was simply enthralled by R2D2. . . he was hugging him, (hogging him), talking to him, poking him, asking him, “I don’t get it. . . do you really exist?”  over and over.  R2D2 beeped and honked back at him, turning his head around, blinking his flashy lights.  For some reason, the line to see R2D2 wasn’t quite as long as the other characters, I think because there was no autograph to get.  So we stood in the short line quite a few times.  Chewbacca on the other hand was quite popular, and very hard to get to see, but we did manage a quick picture which makes me laugh because he was so tall.

Of course, we’re looking forward to next year’s event.  Too bad they don’t do it twice a year!
