Rocks, Ducks and a Dangerous Adventure

Last week we headed up to the lake to check out a spot that I wanted to do a photo shoot at. I knew the sun would be setting in a great place, but I wanted to see if there were any good places for some pictures. Of course, I brought my camera along! We got there in time to see the sun setting gloriously over the water. The boys loved feeding the ducks some of our old bread, and they could’ve sat there and chucked rocks into the lake for a good hour. It was good for all of us, for our togetherness and our fill-up-our-tanks with quality time time. I love shooting their silhouettes over the beautiful sky–it’s not something I normally shoot.

But can I do a session there? No, I’m pretty sure a good solid no would be the answer. That place is screaming panic attack to me. . . with three boys there, I seriously think that I was on guard the whole time. There were dangerous things left and right, just calling those kids’ names. Rocks to climb on, literally IN the water, so if they slipped- splash! A gigantic hill to run up (and potentially fall down and get seriously injured). A pier that went out into the water that was lined with more of those fantastically dangerous rocks, and not much of a railing to keep the kids from going out on those said rocks. We left all in one piece, but I can’t imagine trying to shoot a session there with all those distractions. Maybe I could bring a family with a young one who isn’t walking yet! Or someone with much older kids.  Not kidding you. . . I was high strung and stressed the whole time that either someone was going to fall in the water, or slip on something and smash their face into a giant rock.

But still, besides all the worry, lots of fun was had 🙂
