Rochester, NY Newborn Photography Favorites 2015
It’s no secret. I love newborns. They are so squishy and wrinkly and downright adorable. But on the contrary to that, it’s also no secret that they are the hardest subjects to photograph. Not only do they pee and poop on everything (and sometimes spit up), but they are usually finicky, fussy and tend to not sleep as much in the studio as people would expect them to because of all the moving around and different smells and unfamiliarity. About half of my babies have a hard time sleeping during their session–moms usually say, “they sleep all day long, so we won’t have a problem”, but when they get to the studio, it’s always different than home. And sleeping is trickier when you’re being moved and prodded and aren’t left alone. But usually patience wins out, and even if it means lots of wrapping, sleep typically comes. And that’s when it’s the best part–when they turn to playdoh and let me pose them and put adorable little bonnets and headbands and wee little pants on them. Truly, it’s one of the best jobs in the world. Exhausting, but rewarding. Messy, but amazing.
Here are some of my favorite images from 2015. There’s a big difference in some of them that you’ll notice if you have a good eye. I moved from my “natural light” studio (which was my living room) in April to my new studio which now has studio lights. So you might notice lighting discrepancies in some of the images–the naturally lit ones tend to be a little more “flat”. . . not as dimensional and sometimes a bit too shadowy in parts. But you may not notice anything at all, and that’s okay!
Enjoy these adorable little faces 🙂
