Not me. Me. That is the question.

I’m sure most of my blog reading audience isn’t interested in posts like this, but I think it’s important for me to share, and I’m so excited about it!  Which you also probably find odd too, because what’s all there to be excited about?  Well, I’ll tell you.

Visit my current website here.

It’s bright.  It’s bold.  It’s (in my husband’s words) kind of annoying.  And truth be told, I don’t think it’s very me.  And my website and photography business being me, is sort of an important thing.  I want people to learn a little bit about myself when they hop over to my website to check out my work and decide if I’m a good fit for them. And for the past two years, I don’t think it’s fully been all that it can be.  I’m not bright and flashy.  I’m not bold.  I’m not (I hope) annoying.  🙂

To help me identify some things that I could pull from to design a new site, logo and colors,  I asked my husband to list some things that he thought made “my heart sing.”

He was totally honest.  He said, “Chocolate, sunny days, flip flops, pizza and playing the piano”.  And then he listed more.  “Bringing someone a meal, newborn babies, musicals, hoodie sweatshirts and blue cheese”.  I thanked him and laughed in my head . . . these are all very true.  But I told him I have no idea how to incorporate that into my branding.  He wasn’t sure what I meant, so I told him with a silly twinkle in my eye . . . “I wanted you to say like vintage books with no cover. The thought of being earthy and organic, but never really able to get quite there. Beautifully scripted stationary tied with twine.”  And I could go on about things I love that are beautiful and shabby and chic and sometimes a little bit country in a chic sort of way . . . chalkboards with beautiful sayings.  The thought of living life to it’s fullest and being in the here and now.  True love.  A joyful heart.  Old cameras and pear decorations.  Piles of books.

These are the things that make my heart sing.  In my ideal world.

In all seriousness, I’m pretty much just hanging out at the pizza/flip flop/chocolate reality.  But, when it all comes down to it, if I could redecorate my entire house, it would look like this:

And so, this is what I am putting together for my little rebrand.  And spending hours and hours doing so.  You’d never believe how utterly long the smallest little things take to do!  Happy to be able to do it myself though.  That, too, makes my heart sing.
