I was looking forward to shooting Becca and Lou’s wedding because I shot Becca’s sister’s wedding two years ago. It’s always so nice walking into the beginning of someone’s wedding coverage, already knowing a few people. Becca was calm and collected, sitting on the bed. She didn’t really know what to do–everyone was prepared and ready and she wasn’t planning on getting into her dress for another thirty minutes. I loved how calm she was. When she did step into her dress and look in the mirror, a few tears sprung up. She was so happy. She was beautiful. And it hit her how real this really was. Her mom and sister helped her with the veil and her jewelry, and we were all ready to head to the church.
The day was brisk, but a few times we had a beautiful soft snowfall. A day full of love, and joy, and happiness by everyone attending. I’ve shot at the Hotel Lafayette a number of other times, but I wasn’t aware that they had different reception rooms. It was a first for me in this particular one, and I loved it . . . it was beautifully decorated. It was a bit rustic/urban with the brick walls and the decorations of wooden crates and old antique items. . . but classy at the same time with the splashes of red everywhere, and the beautifully set tables. It was a wonderful way to kick off our 2014 season. James and I are so happy for you, Rebecca and Louis!
