And just like that, Sawyer is already over a week old.  Time flies much faster when the wee ones finally make their way into the outside world.  I’m enjoying the ability to breathe much more efficiently, the absence of my back pain, the fact that I am finally done with enduring those awful braxton hicks contractions, and the length of time that I can now go between bathroom visits (sorry for the TMI).

The day we came home from the hospital, my mom and stepdad came to stay a few days to help out.  They really go nuts with the helping, and really, it’s so incredible.  My mom does the wash.  My stepdad keeps the dishes washed.  During Sawyer’s newborn session, I came upstairs to see them cleaning my kitchen from floor to ceiling–scrubbing the floor and washing all the dining room chairs and wiping down all the counters.  I joked with them and told them that I didn’t know I had invited the Merry Maids over.  They also are so interactive with the boys.  They really get down and dirty with them and pretty much do whatever they request.  And they just go right along with it, even though sometimes their playing doesn’t make any sense–like battling Bakugans (which none of us know exactly how to do it properly–so Brayden just makes things up as he goes).  And my mom just goes along with it like it ain’t no thing but a chicken wing and we laugh the entire time because really, it’s kind of ridiculous.  And they are an extra hand to hold the new little in the family–so we pass him around at meal time so each of us can eat dinner without a baby in their arms.  They hold him while he sleeps so that I can take a quick snooze on the couch.  And they give, give, give so much that by the third day they are totally wiped out.  🙂  Thanks so much for the help guys!!  We appreciate it more than you know.
