One really nice thing about being a photographer is the different people I get a chance to meet.  And every once in a while comes along a great group of people–a family–that embraces me for who I am as a person and wants to be a part of our lives.  

Last summer, I photographed a wedding for Tim and Andrea.  Sometime later, I learned that Andrea’s brother had gotten engaged and that I would be shooting Jordan and Joellen’s wedding this coming summer.  It’s the best feeling in the world when a family chooses you as their photographer–and knowing that they are confident that I will be able capture such meaningful moments in their lives is heartwarming.  

So, we had them over this past weekend to spend some time with them.  We ate and played games.  We laughed.  We played whoonu, and although James and I were at a very large disadvantage, at least we know a little more about everyone than before we started.  It was good fun.  And it was really nice getting to know this wonderful family more than just our interaction with them at weddings and engagement shoots (and hopefully newborn and family sessions in the future!) 🙂
