Mindy’s Reminder

One of my Facebook friends has twin boys.  Her Facebook status the other day read I just decorated a batch of cookies with the boys.  Somehow, I imagined that going so much better in my head.
So when Brayden asked if we could make our annual “gingerbread project”, I laughed in my head about how I could have a romanticized version of how beautiful and festive our project would look.  Or I could face reality.  We have boys.  Neither who are neat about anything.
I thought of Mindy and how things probably went with her cookie decorating.  Probably pretty much exactly how things went with our project.  Little candy balls rolling everywhere.  Frosting on faces.  Fingers.  Shirts.  The counter.
Having absolutely no expectations of what the finished product would be made the whole thing way more enjoyable.  And everyone left the room smiling rather than frustrated.
So thanks for the reminder, Mindy.  Things will never go how we imagine they will.
But look at our beautiful project!  It’s something to be proud of 🙂
And here are our past gingerbread projects:
2008- Gingerbread Train
2009- Gingerbread House
2010- Gingerbread Men
