March In May | Project 365

Today is Day 150 in my Project 365.  I haven’t missed a day yet, though I never formally posted the images that I took when we went on our trip to Las Vegas in early March for my conference.  All of the images in this post were taken in March, minus those ones from the conference that are unfortunately saved on my other computer

at the moment.  Oops.

Things I’ve learned so far, and some helpful things to remember if you’d like to start:

Don’t wait until the end of the day to take your picture.

Bring your camera out with you sometimes, even if that means looking like a complete weirdo when you bust it out at the grocery store, library, doctor’s office or otherwise other not-normally-camera-worthy place.

Small moments matter, and it doesn’t have to be considered some special event or special moment for it to be camera worthy. Think about the things that you will still want to remember when your child is into adulthood. Don’t you want to remember the way they looked while blowing a bubble? Sitting on the floor playing a game? Doing their homework? Jumping on the bed? Sleeping? Stuffing their face with a cookie?

You don’t have to post it anywhere for everyone to see–personally though, that gives me a sort of accountability. Oh my goodness, I haven’t posted my picture of the day yet! The hundreds of people who see my picture of the day will surely scold me! When, in reality, nobody but me really cares that I’m taking a picture every day, and people probably most definitely would not even realize I didn’t do it. But thinking they would helps me out 🙂

And finally, just because you didn’t start taking a picture every day on January 1st doesn’t mean you have to wait until NEXT January 1st to start! Someone I know wrote a comment on one of my pictures and said that they are so mad that they didn’t start doing it, and if they don’t do it next year make sure to give them a kick in the pants. So I told her, why don’t you start tomorrow? Do a May 15th, 2014-May 15th, 2015 Project 365. It’s still a picture every day for a year! Doesn’t have to be a calendar year. And she’s doing just that! I’ve loved seeing her daily pictures of her little guy.  These moments are far too fleeting! Take hold of them while they are here 🙂
