Last Day

Some first day/last day comparisons:

I just watched Brayden get on the bus for the very last time ever as a Kindergartner.  Next year, first grade brings new things–mainly a full school day.  Brayden loved school–it’s no secret that he’s Mister Social Butterfly.  He loves the kids in his class.  He loves his teacher.  He loves his bus drivers.  He even loves his bus buddy, though he only interacts with him for about three minutes a day.

This morning, he came downstairs at 5:38 am, crying.  His little body wracked with heaving sobs as he threw his face down on the bed and announced through his tears that he was going to miss his teacher so, so much.  I didn’t know he was that attached–but I guess now it’s rather apparent.  Before he got on the bus yesterday we talked about the kids in his class.  He told me who he wanted in his class again next year, and who he definitely didn’t want in his class.  He told me excitedly that ALL the teachers in the whole school were going to line up and wave to the busses as they left today for the very last time.  His eyes lit up as he told me.

And there goes sonic, speeding onto the bus for the last time until September. . .
