Kristin & Manu are no ordinary couple. They are from different countries. They overcame a ton of obstacles and paperwork and time to be together and tie the knot. And they did it with enthusiasm and with patience and with the hope that everything would work out perfectly. And it did. Manu is from India–and until earlier this year, that’s where he lived. The two of them met online, and being a world away didn’t stop the two of them from meeting and beginning their happily ever after.
We shot our engagement session just a short while after Manu came to the states. I believe it was the coldest temperatures he had ever experienced. And just a few days before our session was the first time he had seen snow in his life. Things are a lot different here for him, but he was willing to leave all that he had ever known to be with Kristin. The love that was apparent between the two of them on their wedding day was amazing.
Kristin did a great job incorporating some Indian themes into her wedding day attire and their decor. I loved the mix of decorations and Kristin’s henna and jewelry were just gorgeous. The necklace that she wore was Manu’s grandmother’s necklace, which was brought over for her. Manu’s parents, along with his sister and best friend were able to come overseas for the wedding–it was their first time here as well, so they had a list of sightseeing adventures that they were going to be venturing to once the festivities were over.
The whole day was wonderful, but there were three moments that stick out in my mind as ones I will remember most from their day. When Manu’s mother first saw Kristin after she got dressed, I was overcome with emotion. She was speechless and you could tell she truly thought Kristin looked beautiful. The second was during Kristin and Manu’s First Look. Manu’s face was priceless when he turned around and saw her for the first time. I loved watching them and capturing those special first moments. And the third was when Manu’s best man gave his speech–he told the guests that Manu was really an amazing man–and him being present at the wedding was a testament to that fact. The fact that he flew half way around the world to watch his best friend get married and be by his side spoke for itself. Such wonderful words, Kashyap.
