Hump Day Nuggets: Beeping Red

Carter sometimes speaks code, and no matter how I ask him to re-explain things, I still don’t get it.

Example: The other day, while in ninja character, he jumped off of the ottoman onto the rug, and as he usually does (because he nearly is always throwing himself wildly against things, slamming into things, etc), he tumbled onto the ground. This time was different though-he’s normally tough and can be roughed up a bit with no problem. But he cried for awhile. Said his arm/wrist really hurt him. We snuggled him, put some ice on it, and James wrapped his wrist up in a super long sock like an ace bandage for bed time, which is what he said his dad used to do when he was little. The next day, I asked him a few times how it was feeling. I could tell it was bothering him still. The second time I asked him how it felt, he said,

It’s okay. But it’s beeping red a little bit.

Say what?

When asking him to explain what he meant, he just said, it’s beeping so red that it hurts. So, mommas out there. . . interpret that one.

James played a little bit of “dude perfect” with the boys last night with our little basketball hoop.  (If you don’t know what dude perfect is, you’re pretty lame.  Okay, okay. . . totally kidding about that. It’s just this weird game where you do silly stunts–but not dangerous ones–and it’s all over youtube. And you’re not lame at all if you don’t know what it is, because I myself wouldn’t know what it was unless my husband hadn’t shown me a few video clips in the past) That’s totally getting off topic anyways–all I wanted to say about the dude perfect game was that he could tell Carter was not using his arm as much as he normally would. So, we did as any parent would do, and James took him in to get an x-ray. The doctor did a few “tests” on him and said, no x-ray needed–just a “pediatric sprain”. He should be good to go in a day or two.

Let’s hope that red stops beeping!
