For the Love of Argyle

James’ mom sent us a box full of the most adorable clothes for our little rock stars a few weeks back. They came at a much needed time. . . we really didn’t have any three month clothes for Carter. Brayden was in the throes of summer when he wore his three month clothes. Right now the weather doesn’t really know what it wants to do. It snowed last week, and this week we had eighties and thunderstorms. So we need both summery things and wintery things and all those other things in between.

There were a variety of pieces for each of the boys . . . and one pair of matching vests. Adorable green argyle vests full of yuppiness. I totally love them. It’s right up my alley.
We went to a baby shower today, in which the boys were invited. It was a perfect opportunity to adorn my children in their twinwear. Brayden wanted nothing to do with the preppy clothes, and thus declared that he didn’t want to go to the “baby party” through crocodile tears. I was having none of it. My child was going to wear the yuppie argyle vest or else. Like his mommy, he enjoys the comforts of pajamas, t-shirts and “comfy pants”. But in the end, mommy won.
Luckily my other little can’t yet reason with me.
And for the record . . . he was totally fine once he forgot that he was dressed like a yuppie.

On another note:
One of my favorite places to go on a date with Brayden is the library. He loves filling up our bag with oodles of DVDs and books. And my soul does a waltz as I merrily browse the miles of books. There is something about the sound of a plastic-covered children’s book opening that makes my day a whole lot brighter, and all the stresses of my life melt away–if only for just a few moments.
Then I walk through the massive columns of wood shelves holding some of the world’s greatest treasures and think about all of those words waiting for me. I wish my life allowed more time for such leisure things. Books are like gold to me. I become a temporary sponge.
I hope my children develop such a love for reading. I think we are headed in the right direction–the library is a place that Brayden has already learned to love.
