I first met Mindy a few years ago at my mom’s church in Buffalo.  Mindy’s mom is best friends with one of my friends, Mary–I had done both of Mary’s children’s weddings and Mindy’s mom was there for those.  I remember her talking about how I would love her daughter Mindy–“You guys have so much in common! You should meet sometime!”.  And we did meet.  And we do have a lot in common.  I tell her all the time how I wish we lived closer, because certainly we would get together often for play dates and the like.  Three years ago we did a family session for Mindy’s whole family and two years ago, Mindy brought their first daughter, Megan to see me for her newborn session.

And then Katherine came along.  She came along at a perfect time.  She brought hope to the Sauer Family at their greatest time of need for something to Hope on.

Exactly six months ago today, Kate’s big brother passed away.  Ben’s name is now widely known all throughout Western New York–he was a beacon of light for many, and his short life has touched and lead many people to come to Jesus.  Ben passed away just a few months after being diagnosed with a brain tumor–we all went Blue4Ben.  We all prayed with the Sauer Family.  The Lord decided to bring him home, and while nobody can understand, and nobody ever really will, we just pray that there is a bigger purpose for this.  We do still remember Ben. And so many people have been inspired by Mindy’s amazing words, and her Faith.  If you have some free minutes, hop over to her blog and read her amazing heart poured out in words. Ben left behind an amazing family, including his twin, Jack.  And his little sister, Megan.  And now, little Kate, who will be so proud of her big brother when she learns about his courage and faith.

The Sauer’s found out they were pregnant with Kate just a short few weeks before finding out about Ben’s tumor.  She was a source of joy in a dark place, and she is so loved already.  She was born into an incredible family.
