April Showers brings more Winter

Whoever came up with the April showers chant was spot on. It’s been April for about a week, and I think it’s rained five of those days. My fingers are crossed that the whole brings May flowers part of the little chant will come true, but next week is Spring Break around these parts, and the weather forecast is in the thirties. Carter has asked fifteen times already when we can take the trampoline out, and there is a foot deep pool of water in the corner of our yard where it usually goes. We’ll get right on that, buddy.

We’ve had just a couple of days that have barely passed fifty degrees, and my shorts-loving oldest child made sure he talked me into letting him wear shorts outside to play. And why not? My 0% body fat child also asked to wear shorts, but he was back into pants about five minutes into the whole ordeal–goosebumps and all. This is also why he can only last about ten minutes in a swimming pool (even if it’s partially heated), before his lips are purple and he can’t stop his teeth from chattering.

It’s interesting how some weeks I feel like we are bombarded with everything all at once. (Alert: this is a random thought that does not in any way connect with the previous part of this post). Last week, everything seemed hunky dory. This week–not so much. Our car won’t start again after putting almost $500 into it two weeks ago. We sent off our tax payment, and this year we will also be sending our taxes in quarterly so we don’t have such a big payment all at once next April–the first of which is due now as well. That meant a double whammy for us. Ants are invading the office. Our fence is falling over in fifteen different spots and our roof is so bad that shingles blow off if it gets too windy. I just found out that my website hasn’t been sending me inquiries that people have been sending for the past five weeks. Five weeks of potential bookings down the drain. I wrote back to everyone once I found out about the problem, but some people have already gone ahead and found someone else since they never heard back from me. Well, that will sure hurt a business, eh? When it rains, it pours is an understatement. I have my fingers crossed that nothing else major will rear it’s ugly head.

On a happy note. . . At least I have dinner planned!  This is an accomplishment in itself.
