Warning: Rock Stars Ahead

We spent the evening of the first day of the new year celebrating the life of James.  Turning thirty is a big milestone, so we had many of our favorite people over to stuff our faces silly in celebration of the best husband I’ve ever had 🙂
Although the party was not a surprise, there was a surprise in store for James.  I had, for some odd reason, sent an invitation to two of James’ best friends from high school.  Even I was surprised when I received an email from one of them saying that they (and their wives) were planning on making the seven hour drive to come to the party and stay over for the night.
Seriously?? A-maz-ing.  And I totally still didn’t believe it until I got the message that they had gotten into their car and left on the morning of the party.
James was definitely surprised.  And he hadn’t seen either of them in many years, so they had a really good time.
After all the families with little ones left for bedtime, I watched the big kids rock the night away.  I got the most laughs out of the singing.
And to humor Brayden, we played a song in the morning so that he could drum along.  Three hours later, we looked at the clock again and couldn’t believe how fast the morning went by.
Being a rock star really makes time fly.

Thanks Jim, Frank, Amy and Leah for making the trek!  You really made James’ birthday a special one.  And what a wonderful surprise 🙂
