Two Words

This is what we woke up to this morning.
And I have two words about that: what on earth? are you for real? wasn’t it just summer? . . . like, yesterday?  and i’m not ready to face my first winter with two children–bundling them and getting them in and out of the car and containing all of the nasty wet shoes to one little rug and trodding over wet patches so my socks don’t get wet.  i’m not into freezing after getting out of the shower and putting away my flip flops.  putting the grill in the garage.  paying three hundred dollars a month for heat. running noses and keeping track of little hats and mittens.  scraping ice off my car and letting it warm up for ten minutes.  trying to open the car door as carefully as possible so five feet of snow doesn’t whoosh into it the second i pull the handle.  walking through nasty, slushy dirty piles of snow in parking lots and the driveway.  driving like a grandma because i am the worst, most nervous snow driver in all of america.

Do those two words sum up my feelings?

Please, please July. . . won’t you come back and be my friend?
