Twinkling our way into December

We are early decorators for Christmas.  Normally.  We typically have our tree set up before Thanksgiving. But this year, we had a busy few weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, and then we were out of town for many days, and the tree didn’t make it’s way out of storage until the day before December. We have one of those pre-lit artificial trees, that thank goodness we bought on clearance after Christmas a few years ago because barely any of the lights work anymore. I would be peeved if we had paid full price.  What’s the use of a pre-lit Christmas tree if you still have to light it?  Silly, silly.

We’ve been decorating our tree the same exact way for eleven years.  Big bow on top. . . curling ribbon streaming down the tree in alternating gold and red. . . and gold and red ornaments.  Perhaps one of these years we will sway from our tradition, but not this year.  As something fun and special though, the boys have a little tree in their room with our “fun” ornaments, which they love.

In true Chase fashion, Brayden was gung ho about decorating for a few minutes, and then bounced around from one thing to the next taking things out of boxes and trying to go to the “next” thing. And then sitting on the couch and resting for a few minutes. And Carter hung and hung the ornaments until there were no more. They don’t veer away too much from their personalities.  But I guess that’s why they are called personalities!  And Sawyer?  Well, we were smart and we decided to decorate while he was napping. . . and the mess was cleaned up by the time he woke up.  Much easier toddler control–make sure they are out of the room during the craziness!

And there it is folks. . . the Chase Christmas Tree of 2014.
