This isn’t so bad…

It’s no secret–I hate when September arrives each year. We are blessed to have James home in the summer, and when September gets here, it robs us of all the joy of having all five of us home most days. And then there were two. Just me and the little guy. Change is hard, and so when September rolled around, my misery began. Three of my favorite people are gone for a terribly long amount of time each day.

It’s been five weeks. And though I’d rather have everyone home, it’s turning out to be not so bad. Routine helps. I do the same thing almost every morning lately. Wake up a few minutes after six. Work a bit before the boys get up. Do breakfast, the dishes, pack lunches (this takes me FOREVER!), put in a load of laundry, pick out clothes for the boys and then drop them off at school. Same thing, every single day. It makes it easy when you wake up and know what to expect. Sawyer and I do a variety of different things in the morning, and then it’s lunch and nap–and work time for me. Thankfully he’s gotten into a great napping routine, and he often sleeps for 2.5-3 hours, thank goodness! Napping wasn’t always his strength. But it sure helps this momma out when she’s got loads of things to do for her business! And I don’t feel so guilty working while he’s sleeping!

It’s gotten easier. And it will continue to, I suppose. And this isn’t quite so bad after all. But hurry up, summer! No need to stay away for too long 🙂
