This boy.

Things are going to be so different for me this school year. I’m reverting back to what it was like six years ago. When it was just Brayden and I during the day. I don’t really remember much, except I know I probably had much less responsibilities. My business was just starting, so there wasn’t much work yet. There were no other kids to make lunches for and get to school in the morning. No extracurricular activities to take up the evenings. Just me and Brayden, and toddler toys. It seems it was a bit easier.

With Sawyer though, there’s a lot more going on. Life with more kids. . . more responsibilities. . . and still a little one to take care of. Playtime is a struggle. There aren’t many toddler toys laying around like there used to be. Sure, we have some. . . but we have lots of big boy toys too. Funny thing is, Sawyer doesn’t really play with toys at all. If he had it his way, he would sit on my lap all day. Or climb on me. Or be held. And usually if he’s not doing any of those three things, he’s crying. I’d like to blame it on the fact that he’s getting four teeth at one time. But I’m not sure. It’s like toddler colic–anyone else have a child like that?

Getting things done is tricky when you have a colicky toddler. I know, I know. . . that’s not really a thing, but I’m pretending it is. Unloading the dishwasher while carrying around a twenty-five pound two year old slows you down a bit. Not being able to leave the room he’s in because he’ll yell, “momma, momma, where are you?” until I say, “I”m right here!” keeps you from running around tidying up and doing chores. So, today we spent lots of time in the playroom. Play blocks, momma? Play cars, momma? Read books, momma? Play ball, momma?

Apparently we have an independent player sandwich. . . he’s in the middle, and it skipped over the first and third child.
