The Norm

Things are back to routine here lately.  Family visits are over.  We are all healthy once again-I am completely healed from my heart procedure and Carter is fever free and a happy boy again.  Summer school for James has started.
We mostly do the same thing every morning.  My boys rise far earlier than I like. . . so I toss and turn for a little while hoping that just one day they will go back to sleep and let me drift off into my happy slumber.  One hundred percent of the time my hopes never come true.  After about 15 minutes, I get out of denial and drag my weary body out of bed.  Lately, it’s been at about 6:30.
Brayden continues to constantly ask us if we want to play with him.  No amount of time spent with the boy is ever enough, nor will he ever be content with it.  He is truly always going to want a companion–I think God was supposed to give him a twin.
My favorite time of the week with him is when we venture off to our circuit of garage sales.  He stays entertained by all the new toys, while I shop and collect treasures on the cheap.  It’s become an end of the week routine.  Thursday and Friday mornings in the summertime make me giddy with happiness.
Carter is amazing.  He goes along with nearly anything.  Smiles if you even look at him.  And goes nearly wild with excitement when you let him stand up while holding onto his hands.  He’ll eat almost anything we’ve given him so far.  And he’s so close to sitting up by himself.  He’s rolled over a couple of times–one time for daddy, and once in bed.  Too bad I’ve missed both.
I know we are a little late planting our seeds.  But I figure at this rate, we should have some vegetables to eat with our thanksgiving dinner.  The plants are now about four or five inches high.  We’ll see what happens. . . I’m not expecting big things.  Just enough for Brayden to be able to watch the whole process and get excited about something that doesn’t have music, lights or can be used as a piece of sporting equipment.
And if you are ever in town, I will introduce you to these wonderful people who we have become such good friends with.  They are amazing.  And we love them dearly.  Truly gifts from God!
