The City of Champions

While visiting James’ family in New Hampshire, we decided to do something we’ve never done together before–head down to Boston for part of a day.  We have all been there many times separately, but never together.  We left in the morning with no plan–and that’s the way we’ve been lately.  Sort of taking things one day at a time. . . not looking ahead too much.  We parked at Sullivan Square and took the T in.  The boys were thrilled to ride the “train”.  Basically, we just hung out–walked around.  Ate some food.  Walked through Faneuil Hall and stopped in Quincy Market.  The one thing I wanted to do was walk through the North End up Hanover Street to my favorite bakery–Mike’s Pastry.  Turns out, it ended up being more stressful than enjoyable–I was presented with far too many choices, had a three year old insisting on a dessert that I knew he wouldn’t like and a five year old asking for everything there was.  And then we couldn’t even sit down at a table to eat because the tables are reserved only for those “ordering” with the waitress.  So we carried our boxes to the North End Park and ate there, in the wind and sun, and I didn’t even get what I wanted to get, and Carter’s cookie was rock hard and I can complain some more, but I’ll stop.  At least I got to go.

It’s surprisingly hard to be conscious about taking pictures during a day like our day in Boston.  So, pathetically, I snagged these small amount of pictures, and that’s it.  We definitely would’ve stayed longer, but with two young ones in stow, it’s a bit hard–especially with no stroller.

For WAY more pictures, you can visit my sister-in-law’s blog post of our time there.
