Back in September, I received an email from one of my past brides, Diana. They had a beautiful fall wedding back in 2012–check out their wedding pictures here!  She told me she had just found out she was pregnant, and she wanted to book a photo shoot to surprise her husband with the announcement.  She told me some ideas she had up her sleeve, and we put the photoshoot plans in action.  It must have been so hard for her to wait those couple of weeks until our session to not tell him!  I’m always bursting at the seams when I find out I’m pregnant…she must have willpower of steel!  Diana dropped off some props the day before their session so that her husband still wouldn’t suspect anything when they showed up at the photo shoot location.

We pretended like we were doing an early Christmas session for a picture for their Christmas cards.  So we did a few Christmas things–and then I had them take some pictures with pretend gift boxes.  I asked Matt to open one up for a couple of different pictures and inside was a note that Diana had written with a special gift picked out for the baby.  Matt is an avid fisherman, so she had bought a wee little vest for the baby.  It was adorable.  And I kind of wanted to cry, it was so sweet.

Luckily Matt is a good sport, because the rest of the session was full of baby announcement pictures.  Not only did he just find out he was going to be a dad, but now he had to go along with the rest of our surprise plan!  It was so fun to take part in photographing something so special.  I was honored to be a part of it!

Matt and Diana are expecting their new little one in May!  Can’t wait for them to enjoy the blessings of parenthood.
