Summer-Like Sunshine

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous lately.  Carter is really starting to play outside and definitely throws a tantrum when it’s time to come in. . . or when we return home from somewhere and we go right into the house instead of stopping in the back to play first.
Our sandbox has finally dried up from being waterlogged.  We left it on our deck all winter, which probably was a very poor move.  So it filled up with water and then froze solid.  It’s still a bit on the damp side, but at least the sand isn’t swimming.

James and I have been talking about redoing our landscaping in the front.  The problem is that we have no idea what we are doing–nor are we finding it easy to spare the extra time it takes to even begin the project.  We were feeling a little ambitious yesterday, so we went to shop for a few things at the garden center.  I ended up walking around clueless, stuck a few things on my flatbed cart that I thought looked nice, and then put everything back again.  We left with a couple of hanging plants for our front step area.  I think that was a safe start.

At least I have weeded a bit on the side of the house and clipped the hedges in the front.  I fear for our lives when I look at the jungle in my backyard though.  I haven’t been brave enough to venture back there yet.

By the way, does anyone know what this is?  I am assuming it is a tulip variety, but I have never seen one prior to the group that came up in our backyard.
