Summer Dance

James had summer break on Friday. Now he’s back to school, today and tomorrow. Let’s do the summer dance. Let’s do the summer grumble. Back and forth, like a giddy kid who is torn between eating too much candy and wanting to puke because his belly hurts. No worries though–two full days of curriculum work and then he’ll be free for awhile. While we do love that he has off for the summer, the one downfall is that he doesn’t get paid at all during those two months. So we shout for joy for two full months that he’s home with us, but then suffer during the year by putting away a big chunk of each paycheck so that we can “pretend” that he gets paid in the summer.

That whole first paragraph was like a wild mess of random thoughts that didn’t really make any sense.

The past few days have been full. We are like a bee hive–buzzing around doing our busy little dance, tending to tasks in the hive and outside of the hive. We have an extensive list of projects in the house we are trying to attack. We also have three little boys who are ready to be played with and entertained, and we’re working on finding the balance between the two. Too many projects leave miserable children sulking around. Too much playing leave antsy adults doing a potty dance because they are itching to go (not potty, of course. . . that was a poor attempt at a play on words).

Soccer started last week, and it will be a nice change from baseball. A little more action to watch. Lots of photo opportunities. I’m sure many of them will be plastered on my blog in the next month. Summer baseball starts again immediately after soccer, but we decided to take a little break after the two in a row. Let them settle in a bit and see if he still shows interest. Perhaps it might be time to look beyond the town programs and into something a little more organized if we feel he totally digs one of the two sports. For now though, I’m fine with $75 sports. Not quite ready for the more expensive stuff.
