Quarters, Quarters, Quarters! A Pocket Full of Quarters!

Quarters are my best friend come garage sale season.  I went to quite a few sales this past weekend and I set off with a wallet full of quarters.  I came home with bags of treasures for my littles.  Colorful, happy baby toys for the peanut, and lots of random fun stuff for the big three-year-old.  He loved everything.  We played with our new stuff all day today–in pajamas.
I get so used paying less than a dollar for everything that I am starting to get spoiled.  We really have a lot of stuff. . . but I guess I feel like I can justify coming home with ten more little toys for Brayden, when they were only a quarter each, instead of going to Target and spending twenty dollars on a toy that will be used for a few times and then be forgotten.  I don’t mind buying things when I know that in time, when I sell that same item at a sale, I can probably sell it for more than I bought it for.  For some reason, I can’t stay away from books.  We have so many books, it’s like we’re a library.  Books in baskets–books on shelves.  Books in containers and piles and tubs.  But it’s so fun to get a good read for just twenty-five cents, right?  They get read over and over in our house anyways, so it is money well spent.
And take, for instance, one of Brayden’s birthday presents.  At a sale, I ran into a Leap Frog Leapster, with four games.  The baggie that it was in said $2.  Great!  Sold!  When I went to pay the woman, I asked her if it worked.  She said she really didn’t know, and she didn’t have batteries to check it, so I could just have it for a dollar.  Seriously?  I brought it home, popped in batteries and the thing worked like a charm.  That thing has been amazing.  Brayden plays it every time we are in the car.  He totally loves it.  I can turn around and sell that thing on ebay for many times what I paid for it.
And that is all I wanted to say for today.  Quarters are my friend.  And I love garage sales.  And I’m not at all sorry that you will probably hear about my garage sale adventures and bargains all summer long.
