Pumpkin Pulp

The day before Halloween, before it was too late to do, James and Brayden carved one of our pumpkins. Brayden thought the whole thing was very cool and very disgusting at the same time. Watching them scooping out handfuls of the nasty, slimy pulpy stuff brought back vivid memories of being grossed out when I was growing up as well. Before they began their carving, they went on the computer and Brayden picked out a face that he wanted James to carve into the pumpkin. James did his best carving out the star eyes (which I think turned out great) and Brayden was thrilled at such a fine piece of artwork. He was even more excited when we put the candle inside, turned off all the lights and put the pumpkin on the porch after lighting it up. I love seeing my little boy getting excited about something so simple as putting a face on a pumpkin. I wish I could find such joy in the simple things sometimes! What an example children are. 🙂
