November’s Changes

Things in the past couple weeks have changed a bit at our house.  Carter is on the move, and he is fast.  Gates are starting to pop out of the attic and the cat is no longer safe.  At least she’s still faster than Carter, although he is a bit relentless.  Baby proofing has begun all over again.  It’s a stage I definitely did not miss!  Although the sight of my little man racing across the floor on his hands and knees makes me giddy with delight every time I see it.

I love that Brayden loves to dress up with the things from his costume bin.  His favorites are Superman, Spiderman and now an Incredible.  Occasionally, he will be a firefighter or a Nascar driver.  Maybe a pirate every now and then.  But still, amidst all the imaginative play that I can get out of him for about ten minutes a day, I still hear, Mommy, can I play the ipod?  the computer?  my video game?

One thing I am really excited about, is that he is starting to really like drawing.  He is making intentional things and getting away from scribbling.  This week, the trend has been pumpkin cannons.  We went to a Pumpkin Farm in September, and for some reason, the one thing that Brayden has been drawing is a pumpkin cannon that he saw at the farm.  Also, he presented me with a drawing of an orange door the other day.  Yes, interesting, I know.

On another note, if you didn’t already know: I am not a big fan of the winter.  I cry when the snow forces the retiring of my flip flops.  And getting out the door and into car seats with two bundled children is not my idea of fun.  But the one thing that makes me feel warm and snuggly all over is a warm glow from the fireplace.  We had our first one of the season last week and the boys snuggled up and read a book together.  Next stop–Christmas Decorating!  So excited 🙂
