Merry Turkeys. And Happy Christmas!

We had a blast over our Thanksgiving break. Pretty much because we did nearly nothing but hang out at home. We were all a bit under the weather, so it was for the best to have no big plans. I’m so grateful for my little family, and the joy of being together. It was sad this morning when three of the five of us had to go back to schools. Boo.

Thanksgiving Day was a success–we hosted this year, and while we slightly undercooked the turkey and had to put it back in the oven for a little bit, everything else turned out great. This, of course, is a big surprise since I’m not much of a cook. But I’m happy as long as my grandmother’s stuffing recipe tastes even remotely close to how hers used to. And so, I give myself an A this year, because I think it was pretty darn good.

We also cut down our very first Christmas tree. We’ve had a fake one since we got married, and this was a big change for us. Definitely the beginning of a yearly tradition–I understand now why so many families love to go out together and do it every year. We searched high and low and found a favorite that everyone agreed on. A beautiful Korean variety with super soft needles. We live right next door to the Tree Farm, so we walked there. I think we were a little spoiled this year–it was over sixty degrees. Brayden was wearing shorts, and James had on a t-shirt. Perhaps it will be a tradition that was enjoyed the most the very first year we did it, and every year after will be a little less “let’s find the perfect tree”, and a little more “let’s just pick the first one we see that is remotely nice and bring it home because I’m f-f-freezing”.
