Today was James’ perfect day–well, it didn’t start out as a perfect day, but he says it ended as one. We got home at 1:45 am this morning, with our boys in tow. I played in a volleyball tournament with some friends last night, and it ended very late. Don’t worry–we didn’t keep the boys up that late–they did go to bed at a normal time. But we woke them up at midnight to put them in the car and drive home. And this was only because Brayden had soccer at 8 am and James didn’t want him to miss it. Carter didn’t especially enjoy being woken up, and he stayed awake for most of the ride home, and then about 45 minutes after we got home. So James and I went to sleep around 3 am. That’s why the day didn’t start out on the best foot.
But then we had soccer, I had a surprise 30th birthday party for a friend, James put together the trampoline (which was our Christmas present to the boys), he went for a two hour bike ride, we played outside in the gorgeous seventy degree weather and then had a little bonfire before bedtime. That’s why he found the day perfect. A mix of all sorts of stuff. Time as a family. Time as individuals. Time with just the boys. And I think it’s safe to say that days like these leave a pretty warm and fuzzy feeling somewhere deep down.
