Our oven is broken. The electrical panel stopped working, so we have no way to turn the oven on. We can still use the cooktop, thankfully. But for some reason, I sort of forgot about that ability–so I’ve been using the crockpot like a crazy person lately. Maybe this is a good thing, since I usually forget about the power of the crockpot. There are a couple of great things about me using the crockpot–number 1, I think of my grandmother every time I take it out from it’s spot on the shelf. My grandma passed away a few years before my boys were even born. I miss her terribly, and think of her often. She gave me her crockpot when I was first married. So there’s a little bit of Ida in every meal. And number two–dishes are done before 9 am! Bonus! If there’s one thing I hate about cooking, it’s the darn dishes in the sink after dinner. But using a crockpot nearly solves that entire problem, minus having to wash the crockpot itself.
We also have a second crockpot, cause well, one isn’t enough? So today I had both on at the same time. Yeah, I’m real cool like that.
