What a classy day. And a beautiful one at that. The weather this past Saturday was warm, with a slight breeze. The sun danced all day long through the late September sky. And Lisa and Matt’s wedding day went off without a hitch. And what a party it was!
James and I love shooting weddings that incorporate traditions from other cultures. It has been so fun for us to take part in watching such unique celebrations. Lisa’s family is Armenian. The first tradition that Lisa’s family took part in was to break plates as Lisa was leaving the house to head to the church. The family members and bridesmaids all threw plates down on the path where she was walking, and she walked over them on her way to the trolley. Yes. . . I did say trolley. Talk about a fun mode of transportation. We’ve done many weddings, but this was our first trolley ride. Later on in the evening, I watched in awe as the DJ played some Armenian songs, and the guests held pinkies while dancing in one long, winding line. They all danced in step, and I kind of wanted to put my camera down and join them.
Lisa and Matt had arranged a time for the bridal party to unwind and get some refreshments at a family friend’s house. It overlooked the escarpment near Niagara Falls, and the view was beautiful. Looking way off into the distance, we could even see the Toronto skyline. The colors have just started changing on the trees, so that made the view even more gorgeous. The property was full of mature trees and was just beautiful. We spent some time doing pictures there before heading to the reception in Niagara Falls. James and I had a great time with Lisa and Matt. So down to earth and friendly. And genuinely nice people. It’s always so refreshing to work with people who are sweet through and through.
And wow, the reception. I loved the gold accents everywhere. Such a rich color. Lisa is one talented woman, and her touches of design were amazing. Truly, truly a beautiful wedding day.
