Lilliana [Buffalo, NY Newborn Photographer]

I always love when there is some meaning behind an image or two that I take for my clients. This little love is named after her great-grandmother. At her session, her mom wanted to use the Christening gown of her grandmother in some way . . . we brainstormed a bit. We didn’t really want to put Lilliana in the dress. It was old, not super clean, and was a bit on the fragile side. But she knew she wanted to include it in a couple images. So I took a few with the dress next to Lilliana, along with an old framed image of her great-grandmother. And then I used the bottom, detailed part of the dress as a “blanket” over the top of Lilliana while she was wrapped up and in a prop. So the image below to the left is the image I got from the upside-down dress.  I thought it was a nice, classy way to use the dress in an image, and make meaning for that image, but not have it look strange that there was a baby posing with an almost 100 year old dress. Images that have meaning behind them for family members are always the best ones!

Lilliana had a brand new cousin born less than two weeks ago, that I got to meet and photograph as well!  The wee ones are always so precious . . . even if they don’t like to sleep 🙂
