Glimpses of his day

Parents who were available, and interested in coming, were invited to Brayden’s school yesterday to take part in their Jump Rope for Heart celebration.  It wasn’t anything formal. . . they just had stations set up with a bunch of different activities.  Brayden really wanted me to go. It was during Sawyer’s nap time though, so I couldn’t promise I would be able to. He wanted me to go so badly that he came down early in the morning saying that he was laying in bed almost crying because he was sad I wouldn’t be able to go. I’m a sucker for guilt, and Sawyer woke up with enough time for me to head over to his school, so I was able to surprise him and show up. He was thrilled. It was a lot of fun watching him participate. He was very serious about all of the stations and worked hard on each one. He showed off his hula hooping skills and got up to five jumps in a row while jump roping.

My favorite part was when a bunch of kids stood in a circle and played this jumping activity with one of their gym teachers. Brayden held the hands of the two boys on either side of him a few times while they jumped. And it made my heart happy that he’s not too old, or too cool yet to hold hands with friends. I know that will stop soon, so I smiled and cherished it for that moment.

It’s always so nice to be able to visit his school, and I appreciate that they try to include parents whenever they can.
