I got together last night with two of my crafty friends. We decided to sew. So we each came with our separate projects and chatted and sewed for a couple of hours. I had to think long about what I wanted to make. I am really slow when I am with other people–I end up talking way too much and don’t work enough. So I didn’t want anything too complicated.
I came across this fun project on the web last week. A fort kit! Perfect. I thought Brayden would LOVE something like it–James makes forts for him sometimes, and he loves them. I am awful at making them, so I don’t normally do it. But if we had a few handy items all together in a bag that would help me make them, I probably would do it more often.
So I headed to the Salvation Army with the boys yesterday and looked for some sheets, and something to make a bag out of. I ran into this crib quilt while I was there.
I really loved the inside part, but wasn’t a fan of the locomotive vehicles around the outside. I bought it anyways. Then I found three flat sheets (not fitted), in white. I came home and washed and bleached the sheets and washed the quilt. Good as new.
We already had a flashlight. And I purchased the rope and clothes pins at Target–both about $1.50.
After some thinking, snipping, planning and sewing, I think the kit looks great! I was able to use just the middle part of the quilt. Here’s my finished product:
