For the Love of the Beach

I am a professional beach jumper, did you know that?  If not, here’s the proof.
Look at that graceful elegance.  The lines made by tracing the angle of my arms in one fluid motion.
The point of my feet and the position that I chose to place myself according to the sun, sand and water.
Errrr.  Or not.
I am as graceful as a hippo really.
We went to the beach yesterday with some friends.  It was spontaneous, which is hard when there are two young children in each of our families.  But we did it.  Because it’s summer, and because that’s what you do.  You make last minute decisions to alter the attitude of the day.  And because it’s so much nicer and easier to love life when you are doing last minute fun things with friends.  Not sit at home with a toddler who is getting four molars and let’s you know that he’s getting them.  And a four year old who is impossible to keep content.
At the beach, everybody is happy.  Little children squeal with giddiness and quickly run around trying to do everything all at once, lest their good luck runs out and it is time to go home.  Wee ones stomp around in the water over and over, screaming in delight as the waves crash into their legs.

Monday trips to the beach are fabulous.  Really, try it sometime.

And how fun is it to have a friend who is also a photographer?  Someone who will pick up my camera, not even flinch when it is set to manual and take some images for me to treasure of me interacting with my children.  What a blessing that is.  Thanks, Rach 🙂
