Finale

Hip, hip hooray! I have finally finished going through my pictures of the weekend. And since that took me so long, now I have lots to go through from the past three days.
So, without further ado, here is a small glimpse into our day on Easter.
Carter slept fitfully, being away from his beloved swing. But when he was awake, he was as happy as a lark and enjoyed the attention of all.

Brayden found a new love in the Jelly Belly machine and would have devoured every last one of them, had we not been keeping the bowl full of pennies as hostages. The boy used to never like junk food–then one day a little switch must have turned on in his brain, making him a normal child. Who would skip a meal entirely if he had something yummy, full of sugar in front of him. I think we do a good job of keeping it at a minimum though . . . there are always limits. And we do really well with sticking to them.

Like I said yesterday, my mom turned all Julia Child on us and cooked up an incredible meal. My grandma used to have a tradition of using her homemade sauce with most holiday meals. We all looked forward to the wonderful food. But I could definitely get used to different things on holidays, if different means rolled up chicken cordon bleu, a vegetable and rice concoction that i couldn’t get enough of, a white wine sauce poured so heavily on my plate that it made everything swim, and a heavenly moon-surfaced eclair cake that slid down like butter. Oh . . . and then there were the truffles. Don’t even get me started on those.
I don’t think I ever remember her making something so yummy, completely from scratch, in all my life. I certainly could get used to it. Very fast. But don’t worry Grandma, I will always hold your sauce close to my heart.
Bon Appetite! And for those of you who saw Julie & Julia, please read that with a Meryl Streep connotation.
And this is my favorite picture from the weekend. It warms my heart 🙂
So there you have it. My weekend pictures are finally all posted. And that was the finale, folks.
