Rochester, NY Family Photographer | 2015 Family Favorites
Families are one of my favorite things to photograph. There are SO many opportunities to create moments of love . . moments of life. . . moments of joy. And that’s been my business motto for a little over a year now. Love. Life. Joy. Three words that encompass what I want my images to be made of. I can’t tell you how much of a blessing it is to be able to photograph the interactions between families. I hope that if you are on the fence about booking a family session for your own family, that you can see the value and beauty in all of these interactions you see in this post and you pull the trigger and book a session this year! If you are worried about your kids not behaving, or the session being stressful, please don’t! Most of the parents in these images would be the first to tell you that the session was not without it’s stresses. Kids are kids. . . they run away when you want them to stay. They roll through the grass. They tackle each other. Bite each other. Cry that they want a snack. Get distracted by everything around them. Get scared at a bug or bee or my (sometimes apparently) scary faces? They melt down and get cranky and every single one of those things happens. But it’s my job to make it look like none of those things happened. And to find the real smiles and the real joy between everyone. It’s a challenge that I am always excited to take on.
The images in this post are some of my very favorite ones from this past year. There were so many other images that I adored, but I was trying to keep the number to under fifty! I love these images for so many reasons. For the beautiful, yummy golden light. For the raw emotion. For the real smiles. For the hugs and embraces that will last for a lifetime because they are caught in time. For the giggles that I can hear and the silly words that were sad to evoke those giggles. For the tickles and the goodness of it all.
I was also thrilled to learn that my backyard was even more amazing that I could have imagined this year for photo shoots. Once the mosquitoes died down, and the grass grew up, I shot in my yard from about late July until early November. Just about half of the images in this post were taken on my property. I was beyond blessed to have such a wonderful retreat in my very own yard.
2015 was an amazing year. Let’s do it all over again.
