Eating Out and Other Random Things

The past few days have been filled with a variety of delicious restaurants that I’ve never been to.  We normally don’t go out to eat quite so much, but James and I went on a date, and the following day I had a Ladies Night Out.  James and I decided to be silly, so we ventured to Schoen Place where we had a quick appetizer at Aladdin’s Natural Eatery (which we have been to multiple times), but then we hopped across the way to Simply Crepes, where we had never been and devoured some delicious crepes while sitting in their adorable restaurant in front of the fire.  Then, on the way home, we stopped in at Leo’s Bakery to grab a delectable piece of cake.  Yum, yum and triple yum.  All of it.   The following evening, I went out with some of my friends–and my friend Sarah has good taste in food. . . she loves fancy eating and quality ingredients, and one of her favorite places to go is called Good Luck in the city.  Things are served family style, and the place was gorgeous. . . a mix of urban posh/mason jar/old weathered tables/etc.  Every table in the large restaurant was filled by the time we left, and boy was it loud in there.  The restaurant was in a very strange location–sort of amidst a bunch of large brick warehouse buildings. . . there was a teeny tiny plaque with the restaurant’s name on it.  I would’ve never found it on my own.  But the food was incredible.  Stuff I would never normally in a hundred years order.  Seriously, no lie.  Check out their menu.   There were a couple of very strange things on the menu, but mostly stuff we’ve heard of–just with ingredients no one would ever think to put together.  We ordered a variety of things, and I have to say that though brussel sprouts are normally pretty low on my list of things I would choose to eat if I were stranded on a desert island and was starving to death, but had theses few things to choose from–I think I would go back there right this minute if I could and order them again and eat the entire plate.  Everything mixed in with them. . . mmmmm.  that’s all I have to say about those.  The pasta dish we got was an interesting medley of ingredients, all piled on top of four fried eggs–which you sort of poked and mixed around a bit before scooping your portion out.  The whole thing was an experience.  And it really was so delicious. . . so that’s my restaurant review.  If you’re in the Rochester area, try it out sometime.  After dinner, we stopped at a cute little cafe in the city called Starry Nights and chatted for a bit before all of our husbands were wondering where on earth we were.  So that’s that. . . the five wonderful eating places I visited in just a couple of days.  Better cook at home for a bit.

Thankfully, we didn’t have too much going on this weekend, so we spent a lot of time at home, which was nice.  We played up in the boy’s room for awhile, and we rarely do that.  They don’t have a ton of toys up there.  On purpose. So that it’s not too hard to keep clean.  Though with the messy child that Brayden is with his clothes all over the place, it does get messy fast!  Since we rearranged all our rooms around and put almost all of the toys in the toy room downstairs, things have been a bit easier to keep clean.  I highly recommend it.  There have been times in the past where we had toys in a (different) toy room, the bedroom, the living room, the family room and wow. . . there’s a constant mess all the time.  I’m not saying the house is spotless, but definitely there is less of a toy mess everywhere.
